Endless Trainshed

Even with DMUs arriving on nearby tracks, the sheer enormity of Leipzig's train station is quite visible here. With 24 tracks plus parking garages under either side of the trainshed, there's plenty of space for every train to arrive. Since the Deutsche Bahn is currently building a connecting tunnel between Hauptbahnhof and another train station on the west side of town, four of the tracks are currently out of commission. Even without those tracks though, the station functions just fine whilst giving one of its tracks wholly over to displaying vintage rail equipment.

Just as a comparison, Frankfurt Hbf has five arched trainsheds, of which 3 cover four tracks and two cover two. Leipzig has six identically-sized balloon trainsheds, and they all cover four tracks with a platform between every one of them. Every other platform is for station personnel only, so adjacent tracks share platforms for boarding and disembarking passengers.
