First in a fleet of three trains I photographed headed towards Heidelberg within 15 minutes, this S-bahn is the all-stop local that Kamui and I rode every day when we lived in a short-term apartment in Sandhausen. On the left side of the picture, you can see the switch I photographed earlier. I snapped pictures all over this spur while I awaited the beginning of rush hour commuter trains. I didn't have to wait long. The action is nonstop on this line, as all InterCity trains to Stuttgart run this route 'till it meets up with the Stuttgart-Mannheim high speed line about 20 K to the south. The S-bahns run all the way from Karlsruhe to Germersheim via Heidelberg, making a convoluted, inverted U shape on the map.
