Leaderfoot Viaduct

Just east of Melrose is this abandoned railroad bridge. It last saw a train in 1948 and is now considered unsafe even for pedestrians. Judging by the condition of the bridge, I suspect it's mostly the liability of allowing unsupervised public access to the deck of a bridge that's high enough above the ground to facilitate suicide that inspired local officials to block off the approaches.
