Boats in Bruges

Bruges served (and serves) a similar function in Belgium as Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Both have historically been major import export hubs, and the need to transport all kinds of goods throughout the city to reach their respective warehouses necessitated a network of canals now traversed by tour boats. Bruges has a much smaller network than Amsterdam, but the feel of the two cities is quite similar.
